The Gangbuster Gives Up:

Governor Thomas E. Dewey and the Albany Machine

Thomas Dewey made his political reputation by attacking organized crime and corrupt politicians. His Gang Busting efforts made him Governor, but as Governor, Dewey failed to make any significant progress in weakening the Democratic machine in the city of Albany. Eventually, Dewey gave up trying to battle the entrenched corrupt system in the city.

Tod Ottman, who is affiliated with the New York State Encyclopedia Project, will share insights into Governor Dewey's relationship with Albany's Democratic Machine.
