1. Important Printer Reminder
This is a friendly reminder to all graduate students that the computers in the GSA's office are not for use for research purposes. The printers in the office are allocated strictly for printing and we ask that as long as there are others waiting all students keep their time occupying the computers to 10 minutes or less. Thank you for your understanding!

3. Presidential Forum
On November 4th 2013, we will be holding a Presidential Forum in conjunction with Student Association (undergraduate). This forum is an opportunity for students to pose questions and concerns to the President. Our goal is to have 5 main issues our student body is concerned about, to develop the our conversation with the president around.

4. MCAA Chairman
Joel has done a wonderful job serving the GSA from the beginning of his term this year until the current point, unfortunately, he will have to step down due to time constraints. The GSA is currently taking submissions of interest to replace Joel as MCAA Chair effective at the next GSA Assembly Meeting - December 4th. 5. National Association of Graduate-Professional Students Membership
At the last assembly meeting (November 1st, 2013) the Assembly Representatives voted on the previously suggested missive to become a member of a graduate and professional student group. The Assembly was presented with 3 options NAGPS was chosen unanimously as it is the only organization of those available that focuses solely on graduate and professional students. 6. Wages and Benefits Resolution Approval
A resolution was approved by the GSA Assembly to be presented by Caitlin at the State-wide SUNY Student Assembly as sponsored by the Wages and benefits Committee to provide a platform of reform in regards to the current wages for adjuncts and contingent faculty. An updated version with approved edits will be released soon.

8. EGSO Annual Can & Coat Drive
I am happy to announce the kick-off of the Annual Can and Coat Drive by the English Graduate Student Association Outreach Committee. Last year, we collected over 10 bags of coats and over 400LB's of cans. I am hoping we can either match or beat that this year. So bring your stuff and tell everyone about the drive.

9. Sustainability Week and Roundtable
Sustainability week will be November 11-15. Each day will be themed so please check the sustainability website for a full list of events!
There will be a Sustainability roundtable held on November 11, regarding climate change. If you are interested in attending, more details can be found under the events tab: http://www.albany.edu/gogreen/
10. LISC Student Needed
The Library Science Committee is in need of one more student member for the semester. There is only one definite meeting left to be held on, Monday, November 25th. They also have a tentative date set for Monday, December 16th, but that meeting would only be held if there is urgent business that needs to be wrapped up before the end of the semester. The typical meeting date for this committee is 3:00-4:30 on the fourth Monday of the month.

12. RGSO Online Voucher Training System
The first training event will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 19th from 6:30-7:30pm in the Levitt Room on the Downtown Campus, in Page Hall.
The second one will be Thursday, Nov. 21 from 6:30-7:30 pm in the same room, in the Levitt room Downtown.
13. Ed. Psych Movie Night

This is a party night for Karaoke lovers. There will be some students coming up singing on the stage, and competing for the top 3 "good voice" of UAlbany. Everyone could come and enjoy the night, and vote for them. There will be other wonderful performance also.

Every year since Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, Louisiana (NOLA), graduate students from SUNY Albany?s School of Social Welfare have contributed their time and effort to help rebuild the structure and morale of those affected by this disaster.

21. Teaching Portfolios for Future Faculty

Teaching is becoming important to all sorts of schools, and successful job candidates are able to articulate their thoughts and behaviors clearly. A great way to prepare to demonstrate teaching effectiveness both on paper and in interviews is to develop a strong teaching statement and assemble a portfolio that showcases your accomplishments and growth as a teacher. This workshop will provide examples and help you develop a strategy for collecting and displaying materials to help you articulate your philosophy of teaching and demonstrate your strengths as a teacher.

University at Albany graduate students and graduate students from institutions in the Capital Region are invited to participate in a conference aimed at giving them the opportunity to gain conference experience conveniently at our own institution, while getting useful feedback from other departments and faculty members. This is a unique experience. A 200-word proposal is due by December 13, 2013.

24. International Teacher Education Conference

Call for papers!
The main goal of International Teacher Education Conference is to provide a multinational platform where the latest trends in education can be presented and discussed in a friendly environment with the aim to learn from each other. Prospective presenters are encouraged to submit proposals for papers and posters/demonstrations that offer new research or theoretical contributions. Presentations should be in Turkish, English and Arabic and should address both theoretical issues and new research findings.
Furthermore if the presenter is unable to attend the oral presentation, video presentations are available. For further information on how to submit, please refer to the Paper Submission section on our website. For paper guidelines, please refer to the Paper Guidelines section.
ITEC 2014 conference will take place on February 5-7, 2014 at the Holiday Inn Sharjah Hotel, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates..
All full papers (in all languages) will be published in an online proceedings book on ITEC web site after the conference.
We would like to invite you to share your experience and your papers with academicians and professionals.
The official languages of the conference are English and Turkish. Proposals can be sent and be presented in either language. But all submission process will be done in English. Please, submit your proposal according to the following presentation category descriptions in paper guidelines.

25. Minority Business Specialist 2, SG 23 Opening

26. FASEB Biological Research Video Contest
The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) is sponsoring a competition for the most effective and creative video of how biomedical and biological research is funded in the U.S. and how the results of federally funded research benefit Americans.
Ideas for submission include, but are not limited to:

Grand prize winner will receive $5,000!
Video submissions will be accepted starting October 1 through November 30, 2013. The winner will be announced in February 2014.
