Chris's interest to study Public Administration came out of a series of other areas of study. Because he liked writing, he wanted to study English. That turned into Psychology because he liked to argue and analyze things. Before he knew it Chris was studying current events and politics and that turned into law, economics, and political issues. All these interests led to Public Administration. "I felt I could influence more change if I was a Public Administration major".
Chris made an easy transition from his high school to UAlbany, but he would like to see more diversity. His strategy involves putting on more programs for multicultural students so that they both feel comfortable and inspired to get involved. "Even though it's a big school, you can make it small."
Chris's best moment at UAlbany happened when he and the NAACP brought renowned speaker Cornel West to come speak at Albany. It took a year of planning, but the event drew a huge crowd, received good publicity, and the outcome was a huge success.
Ten years from now Chris hopes to achieve high endeavors. "Cornel West talked about success versus greatness and I'd like to be great." |
