Bus 523 Presentation Skills (1)

Skills-oriented course seeks to develop effective individual presentation skills through instruction and practice. Students will be video-taped and given detailed feedback about their skills and needs for improvement. Attention will also be given to working as part of a group in making business presentations.

Bus 675 International Business (3)

Introduction to the global scope of the competitive environment of today's economy. Selected topics, including cross-cultural, political, and economic considerations, examine both the functional interrelationships as well as the international dimensions of business decisions. Prerequisite: Completion of at least 30 graduate credits.

Bus 680 Selected Topics in Business (3)

This course is devoted to selected topics in business and may include issues relevant to public and private sector organizations as well as to domestic and international settings. The course may be repeated for up to 6 credits. This course can be included as one of the electives for evening MBA students. Prerequisite: Completion of at least 30 graduate credits.

Bus 681 (Hpm 550) Financial Management of Healthcare Institutions (3)

This course covers significant issues in the areas of working capital management, capital financing, cost analysis and rate setting, budgeting, reimbursement, managed care contracting, and cost controls. The course has been developed to maximize student opportunities for independent analysis, development of PC-based problem solving applications, and in-class discussion and evaluation of pertinent financial issues and problems. An emphasis is placed on uses of information generated through accounting and financial management systems to control operations in health care organizations. To promote such understanding, students receive problem oriented assignments and examinations in which they can apply knowledge and reasoning techniques gained from this and other courses to reach logical decisions that would effectively control operations in the simulated exercises. Prerequisites: Hpm 500 or Permission of instructor.

Bus 693 Internship in Small Enterprise Economic Development (3)

In this course student interns will monitor and mentor under-served entrepreneurs and small business owners as they embark on their business ownership. Students will be assigned business oversight responsibilities of their loan program participant to review cash flow and revenue issues, sales and marketing efforts, the overall stability of the business, and etc. This course may not be repeated for credit and an application is required (BA 361A). Enrollment is limited to 6-7 students per semester. Prerequisite: Completion of 30 graduate credits in business.

Bus 697 Multi-Cultural Work Environments (1)

This is an independent study course that is open to students whose summer internships will be in a country other than that of their citizenship or prior work experience. The goal of the course is to promote an understanding of the cultural assumptions we bring to the work environment and the effects of cultural differences on organizational interactions and productivity. Registration for the course occurs in the summer semester after or during the internship. Students may register for the course after obtaining an internship offer and completing the paperwork for the course. International students will obtain and process work authorization forms with the International Students Office.

Bus 698 Research Project in Business (3)

Supervised research on a topic involving accounting, finance, marketing, management, operations management, and/or information technology management. Required of all part-time MBA program students. Prerequisite: Completion of at least 30 graduate credits.
