YOU MUST GRADUATE BEFORE YOUR CERTIFICATE CAN BE AWARDED, BUT YOU CAN APPLY BEFORE HAND.

Procedure to Apply for Certification

You need to complete the following 3 steps to obtain your certification

  1. Apply for degree clearance or graduation during the last semester of your study using your MyUAlbany account. Please check the appropriate deadline for each semester. [Usually the deadlines are around first week(s) of February for Spring clearance, July for Summer clearance and October for Fall clearance].
  2. Apply for certification through the State TEACH system located at http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/teach/.
  3. The completion of a master’s degree does not automatically qualify you for a certificate. Please make sure that you have completed all other requirements for certification. This can be verified on TEACH.
