The program offers a broad perspective on political, psychological, and institutional issues with particular emphasis on analytic and quantitative skills. A scientific focus distinguishes the MS degree from the broader scope of the MPH degree. The MS program is designed to address the important public health challenges in today's world, including: how governments should respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, how hospital regulations affect costs and quality of care, strategies to improve health of poor children, techniques for promoting healthy lifestyles and strategies for providing universal health care.
