| The second annual all-day campus-wide Graduate Student and Graduate Teaching Assistant Orientation on August 31, 2006, co-sponsored by the Dean of Graduate Studies and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, attracted close to 400 new graduate students. Following Orientation, the Graduate Student Organization and University Auxiliary Services co-sponsored a welcoming picnic in the garden between Social Sciences and the Library. More than 350 new students from all 9 Schools and Colleges and their families joined returning students for food, music by the Latin jazz band Sensemayá, and free door prizes. The photos that follow feature some of our new students, present a flavor of the event, and end with a shot of the Graduate Dean's Advisory Committee-the group of fabulous GSO officers and members who did all the work to make the picnic possible. We present the following selection of pictures from Fall 2006 Graduate Student Orientation and Picnic. |
