About

Luke Rumsey serves as the University’s primary access point for local elected officials and community members seeking to interface with the Institution. His responsibilities include building and fostering relationships with local governments, neighborhood associations, businesses and nonprofits, community constituencies and members of the general public in an effort to advance the University’s federal, state, and local agendas.

Prior to joining the University’s Office of Government and Community Relations, Luke served in a variety of roles at the Institution, including most recently as the Assistant Dean of Students. While in this capacity, Luke supervised the Off-Campus Student Services Unit and spearheaded the University’s efforts to address food insecurity.

Luke is a proud alum of the University at Albany, acquiring a Bachelor of Arts in human biology ('07) and a Master of Arts in criminal justice ('09). During his tenure at the University, Luke managed the launch of the institution’s on-campus food pantry and oversaw the successful implementation of UAlbany’s Off-Campus Ambassador Program (a 2017 NASPA Excellence Award winning, Gold Honoree). In 2018, Luke was honored with the President’s Award for Exemplary Public Engagement.
