UAlbany Goes Green!
What is Sustainability?

Sustainability? The word seems a little vague – who gets to define it?

The simple answer is: We work together to define it.

  1. First, we calculate what it takes to run our 25,000-member UAlbany community (fuel, water, food, air, etc.), including the waste we generate.

  2. Next, we find ways to lower consumption, protect environmental resources, and reduce waste, with emphasis on using those brains that got us together here in the first place. Along the way we count up the benefits that accrue to our health and financial well-being.

  3. Then, we study the future. We help prepare a world more to our liking, in exchange for taking responsibility for our actions and their consequences.

Follow the links on this page for information about some of the projects launched by the task force and its committees to help us be better stewards of our environmental resources.
