Meet the Director

Mary Ellen Mallia is the Director of Environmental Sustainability at UAlbany. Her office is in charge of coordinating the University task force activities, green initiatives, environmental education and sustainability policies. She will strive to advance strategic planning initiatives related to campus environmental issues, as well as work with various academic departments and student groups to develop, implement and coordinate environmental initiatives, such as UAlbany's recycling and energy conservation programs.

Mary Ellen received her B.S. in Economics from Siena College, her M.A. in Education from the University at Albany, and her Ph.D. in Ecological Economics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Prior to her present position, Mary Ellen was a teacher for fifteen years at both the high school and college level.
