UAlbany Goes Green!

UAlbany Environmental Sustainability Council

Home > Sustainability Office > Environmental Sustainability Council

The Office of Environmental Sustainability is introducing a new program at UAlbany:  Environmental Sustainability Councils.

The purpose of these councils is to help communicate the programs and policies of the university with regards to environmental sustainability to the campus community.  Each council will be responsible for helping to educate their residence hall and in turn, providing feedback to the Office of Environmental Sustainability as to the needs and ideas generated from their targeted area.

Ideally each council will have a minimum of five members and will meet monthly to review how sustainability procedures are being implemented. Additionally, one person (or two people in case of the residence hall) will serve as the Chair of the council. The chair will be responsible for organizing the council, running the meetings and preparing a report of the meetings to be submitted to the Director of Environmental Sustainability.

Council chairs will be eligible for yearly stipend of $500/year, provided successful completion of their duties throughout the academic year.

Students who would like to participate on the council or apply for a chairmanship are encouraged to complete an online application.

Attn: Chair applications must be submitted by September 21, 2009 (Midnight).
