Recipient of The Dean C. Backer '88 Scholarship
Christina Wedderburn's summer internships at Ernst & Young in New York City offered her “hands-on experience of the things I learned in the classroom. I’d like to go back to New York and work there or at one of the other accounting firms.” The Dean C. Backer '88Scholarship she received recently “has helped me to pay for school this year. I’ve been paying for it myself, so the scholarship gave me a chance to go to school without getting numerous jobs to cover tuition,” said the 20-year-old Yonkers, N.Y., native. Wedderburn, a senior who double majors in accounting and business, plans to earn a master’s in accounting. In addition to expressing gratitude for the scholarship, she appreciates the help of Jason Cotugno, her adviser at UAlbany. “When I have questions or ideas about classes, he helps me figure out the classes to take,” noted Wedderburn.
