Mission of the 2009 Class Gift
The Class Gift is a way for UAlbany students and parents to give back to the University at Albany, and serves as a living tribute to great memories, an outstanding education, and a bright future.

What is the 2009 Class Gift?
Gifts made towards the 2009 Class Gift will support the Richard Bailey Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Richard was a UAlbany senior who was tragically killed in October 2008.  He was a sociology major and criminal justice minor from Wantagh, N.Y., who was scheduled to graduate in December 2008.  He planned to pursue a career in law enforcement.

In the days following Richard’s tragic death in October 2008, student leaders sought to pay tribute to Richard and to keep his memory alive on campus.  They decided to establish a memorial scholarship fund in his honor, which will provide future UAlbany students with the chance to follow their dreams.  The senior class has established a goal of raising $25,000 for this fund this year.

Why should I make a gift?
Your gift will leave a lasting impression on the University at Albany, and will set a course for the future.  This fund will serve as a meaningful legacy for Richard, and create new opportunities for future students.  As a donor, you will also be listed in a special donor recognition section of the commencement bulletin.

How do I make a gift?
Giving is simple, and there are many options:

• You can give today on our secure online giving form.

• Visit the Class Gift table at Grad Fest on Tuesday, April 7, in the Campus Center

• Mail in the pledge form you received in the mail with your check made payable to The University at Albany Foundation, with "2009 Class Gift" in the Notes area of your check

Your Gifts at Work

Celina Fletcher
On behalf of her fellow graduates, class of 2001 President Celina Fletcher (above center) presented the university with a $7,000 check. The money was used to build the class gift, a 20-foot tall clock tower, next to the Science Library. Other senior class gifts supported by the Annual Fund include a bronze sculpture of UAlbany’s Great Dane mascot, artwork in the Campus Center, and scholarships for deserving students.
