The Dean Frank J. Thompson Scholarship

Amy Sheldon

“Being the recipient of The Dean Frank J. Thompson Scholarship has made pursuing my graduate studies at UAlbany possible. Thanks to this scholarship, I am less concerned about my finances and can focus on my studies,” states Amy Sheldon, currently enrolled in the MPA program at Rockefeller College. She is thrilled to be a part of the program and is leaning toward a concentration in non-profit management.

Originally from Hyde Park, NY, Amy studied communications as an undergraduate student at SUNY Plattsburgh and has her eye on a career in communications at a non-profit or in education. Previously she has interned for the American Cancer Society and worked in college admissions. She has been studying hard and says that, “One day I’d like to give back just like the donors who funded my scholarship.”

She was immediately drawn to the history and beauty of the buildings on UAlbany’s downtown campus and quickly felt at home there. “My favorite class so far is Public Financial Management. It’s very new and different from the communications classes I took as an undergraduate.” Amy also works as a graduate assistant in Admissions at Rockefeller.
