Sample Language for Bequests

Wording for the bequests noted below should be reviewed with your attorney to be sure it is consistent with any state guidelines or regulations.

Bequest of a Sum:

I give, devise, and bequeath the sum of (insert dollar amount) to THE UNIVERSITY AT ALBANY FOUNDATION, a not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of New York, now having its principal place of business at 1400 Washington Avenue, UAB 226, Albany, NY 12222.

Percentage Bequest:

I give, devise, and bequeath (insert percentage) of my estate to THE UNIVERSITY AT ALBANY FOUNDATION, a not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of New York, now having its principal place of business at 1400 Washington Avenue, UAB 226, Albany, NY 12222.

Residuary Bequest:

All of the rest, residue and remainder of my property, both real and personal and wheresoever situate, I give, devise and bequeath to THE UNIVERSITY AT ALBANY FOUNDATION, a not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of New York, now having its principal place of business at 1400 Washington Avenue, UAB 226, Albany, NY 12222.

Contingent Bequest:

I give, devise, and bequeath (specific dollar amount or percent of estate) to my spouse. (name of spouse). Should (he/she) not survive me, the bequest is hereby directed to THE UNIVERSITY AT ALBANY FOUNDATION, a not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of New York, now having its principal place of business at 1400 Washington Avenue, UAB-226, Albany, NY 12222.
