Academic Background
- B.S. (Biology) 1989, SUNY Cortland, NY
- A.S. (Liberal Arts) 1987 Tompkins-Cortland Community College Dryden, NY
Professional Background
- Research Associate/Bioinformatics at Myriad Genetics, Inc., Salt Lake City, UT (1996-2005)
- Biomedical Research Technician at Naval Medical Research Institute, Bethesda, MD (1992-1995)
- Research Assistant II at Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY (1989-1991)
Research Experience
- In silico analysis of genes identified as interesting by RNA expression profiling experiments or by genotyping. Maintained/administered sequence databases used for mutation screening in prostate cancer, obesity and pharmacogenomics projects. Scouted and tested new sequence analysis software.
- Developed and implemented PCR based assays for detection of various agents of bio-warfare as part of a biological warfare defense program; measuring the incidence of Mycoplasma spp. infection in patients with and without HIV infection; and the rapid diagnosis of bacterial meningitis.
- Conducted biochemical and molecular biology research on the growth and differentiation of the fungal entomopathogen Metarhizium anisopliae.
