Summer TAP
Students may choose to use some of their TAP eligibility in the summer term.
At UAlbany, enrollment for the summer term is always considered accelerated study.
Keep in mind that using TAP in the summer counts toward the total number of terms you are eligible to receive TAP,
potentially creating a financial hardship in your last term of study.
The following facts about using TAP in the summer should be considered carefully:
To receive TAP for summer study at the University at Albany, you must have been enrolled in a degree program at
UAlbany in the prior fall and spring terms and have passed at least 24 credits.
You may only receive 8 semesters (10 semesters if you are in the EOP program) of TAP as an
undergraduate student.
Summer TAP will count as 1 semester for students enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) or a half semester for students enrolled for 6 to 11 credit hours.
A half-time Summer TAP will only be awarded to students enrolled full time in an approved
program in New York State during the preceding spring term or subsequent fall term.
Payments for half-time summer TAP awards will not be made until October of the following year.
Academic Progress Requirements
for New York State Aid apply for Summer TAP. Adding and then dropping
classes in the summer term may cause you to be ineligible for your Fall TAP award.
Students applying for Summer TAP must make a
TAP School Code change
to their TAP application, listing the UAlbany TAP School code (0895) for the Summer term of that year.
If you have questions regarding how Summer TAP may affect your financial aid, you are encouraged to visit the
Student Services Center
and speak with a representative.
