Carl Eller is the founder and Executive Director of Triumph Services, a chain of chemical dependency rehabilitation facilities located in the metropolitan area of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota.Eller, a certified chemical dependency counselor reciprocal (CCDCR), was the National Football League consultant on alcohol and drug abuse matters. As a consultant to the NFL, Eller helped develop the league's first Employee Assistance Program. He also helped the NFL start the Chemical Dependency Education and Awareness Coaches Training program for its 28 member teams. He has worked with professional hockey, basketball and baseball teams.A familiar name in American sports history, Eller's illustrious 15-year career with the Minnesota Vikings famed Purple People Eaters included Rookie of the Year, two time "League's Most Valuable Lineman", All Pro, six Pro Bowls and two NFL Hall of Fame nominations. Eller is the Vikings record holder with 134 career sacks and also has 23 opponent fumble recoveries and 9 blocked kicks. In 1995, he was named to the Vikings Silver Anniversary All-Time Team.
Eller is the Executive Director of the United States Athlete's Association (USAA), a national network of students organized to promote positive chemical-free lifestyles. The USAA has worked with over 400 schools and approximately half a million young people. Eller has traveled with former first lady Nancy Reagan, assisting with her drug abuse program. He has appeared frequently on national TV and radio including Nightline, Good Morning America, the Today Show, Oprah and many more. He has often been quoted in major publications such as Time, Life, Business Week, Psychology Today and has been a contributing editor for Alcoholism and Addiction Magazine.
Eller has been honored by countless groups and organizations across the nation for his achievement in developing outstanding chemical dependency prevention and treatment programs, including the "Tribute to Community Enterprise" award from Dr. William Bennett, former Director of National Drug Policy. A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Eller resides in Minneapolis with his wife, Mahogany, and their three children.
