SUBJECT:    NEW FOOD SERVICE PROVIDER

We are pleased to announce that University Auxiliary Services (UAS) has appointed Chartwells as the University at Albany's new food service provider, effective July 15, 2000. Chartwells' selection was the result of a unanimous recommendation by the University's Food Service Selection Committee to the UAS Board of Directors' Executive Committee. Chartwells provides food services to 225 colleges and universities.

Albany students deserve the best when it comes to food in our dining halls and Chartwells' national record of accomplishment and bid presentation to the UAlbany community demonstrated the company's ability to deliver a high-quality food service program.

The Selection Committee recommended Chartwells after a very thorough bid process, including pre-proposal conferences with all interested vendors, detailed proposal submissions, and comprehensive vendor presentations. Its decision was unanimously ratified by the UAS Executive Committee.

Chartwells' responsibilities will include food service in the residence halls, all retail operations, catering, concessions, and the Giants' training camp. Paul Krouse has been appointed as Chartwells' resident district manager for the University at Albany, and is available by telephone at 442-5985. An announcement from Chartwells will follow shortly, indicating additional key appointments.

If you have any questions regarding the transition of our food service program, please feel free to call UAS Executive Director Dr. Julia Filippone at 442-5950, or Mr. Krouse.

We look forward to a successful partnership with Chartwells as we move forward to improve the quality of food service for the entire University community.
