Bodies in Crisis (2010)
by Barbara Sutton

Barbara Sutton's Bodies in Crisis: Culture, Violence, and Women's Resistance in Neoliberal Argentina illuminates how multiple forms of injustice converge in and are contested through women's bodies. Sutton, born and raised in Argentina, examines the often hidden bodily worlds of diverse women in that country post-2001, a period of profound social upheaval. Sutton, a UAlbany assistant professor of Women's Studies,  reveals women's negotiation of cultural norms of femininity and beauty, experiences with illegal and unsafe abortions, and resistance to interpersonal violence.
