Barry Sherman's Addiction and Pregnancy, Empowering Recovery through Peer Counseling offers a comprehensive look at substance abuse during pregnancy. Evidence is presented to support the effectiveness of peer counseling for the substance abuse treatment of pregnant women. Sherman, an associate professor of health policy in UAlbany’s School of Public Health and director of its Doctor of Public Health program, also studies psychosocial aspects of health, including coping, stress, and social supports.
