Progressive Community Organizing (2009)
by Loretta Pyles

Assistant Professor of Social Welfare Loretta Pyles emphasizes why and how people get together to effect change in their communities in the social work textbook Progressive Community Organizing: A Critical Approach for a Globalizing World. Pyles uses examples from labor, feminist, and faith-based movements, as well as from environmental organizing.

Director of UAlbany’s Community and Public Service Program, she includes case studies from community efforts in post-Katrina New Orleans, many of which she herself was involved in.
