The primary goals of this course are as follows:
To enhance students' understanding of the influence of cultural, historical, philosophical, socio-economic, political, and ideological factors on education in the United States.
To increase students' awareness of the influence of these factors on their professional lives as teachers.
To help students gain insight into the nature of diversity in teaching and learning, specifically with respect to the role of teachers in contemporary education.
To enhance students' understanding of the complexities of teaching and learning.
To foster in students a critical and self-reflective approach to teaching that encompasses ongoing learning.
To encourage students to examine their own roles as teachers in the improvement of secondary education.
To expose students to various technologies for teaching and learning.
