Proposal Guidelines for Inquiry Project

As the guidelines for the Inquiry Project make clear, you need to submit a proposal for your project. The guidelines for this proposal are straightforward:

If you choose the Newsletter Option, you should indicate why you're interested in pursuing this option, the kinds of issues, topics, or questions you think would be worthwhile to write about for the newsletter, some ideas for researching those topics, some ideas you might have for design and layout (if appropriate), and how you think you would like to contribute to the project in addition to writing.

Obviously, since you haven't yet begun to explore your question, you may not be able to determine for certain the kinds of information you'll need or the form your project will ultimately take. But as you begin to work on your project, you may find that you need to adjust your expectations somewhat. For instance, you might need to change the format or to explore sources you hadn't previously considered. That's fine. But it's crucial that you commit to a question early so that you'll have time to explore that question and put together a good project.

You may need to change your question as you begin your work, but you should avoid doing so unless it is absolutely necessary.

The proposal is due on Thursday, November 6.
