Professional Career Development Program (PCDP)

Mission
The mission of the University at Albany Professional Career Development Program (PCDP) is to propmote and enhance the academic achievement and graduation of members of groups historically underrepresented in scientific, technical and health-related programs.

Discussion Groups and Tutoring
PCDP provides study groups and special discussion sections for selected courses in accounting, biology, business, computer science, economics and math to help students excel in these disciplines.

Counseling
PCDP staff provide information and advice on personal and social matters and make referrals to other campus and community resources when appropriae. Staff also monitor student academic progress and recommend strategies for improving academic performance

Test Bank & Resource Library
PCDP maintains previous exams and laboratory excercises to aid in exam preparation. Also GRE, MCAT, and LSAT exam preparation materials are available for loan, as well as self-help books on resume writing and the job search process.

Eligibility

  • New York State resident enrolled at the University at Albany
  • Member of a group historically underrepresented in scientific, technical, health-related and liscenced professions. These groups include: African American, Latino, Native American and Alaskan Indian
  • Have an interest in and potential to complete a major leading to a professional career in accounting, mathematics, medicine or allied health professions
Note: Members of other groups must meet State Education Department financial guidelines in order to participate. Guidelines are available in the PCDP office.
