Worksheet: Presentation Graphics (In-class version)

Prerequisites for this Worksheet:
You should be able to get around a PC with Windows and MS Office (especially PowerPoint).

Assignment:
  1. Attached to this worksheet is a five-slide PowerPoint presentation. Your assignment is to duplicate this presentation. Refer to the PowerPoint Guide as needed.

  2. Add speaker notes to the presentation as shown in the attachment. Refer to the PowerPoint Guide as needed.

  3. Turn in a 6-per-slide audience handout and a copy of your slides for this show with speaker notes attached.
Discussion:
PowerPoint is a graphics program that is especially useful for creating overhead slides for supporting public speaking. You can print out paper copies of the slides (either in black and white or in color) and then xerox them on to transparencies. Similarly, if you have a color printer, you can print the slides directly on to the transparency material. If you have an ink jet printer, make sure to purchase ink jet slides (ink jet printing on xerox or laser jet slides will smear).

The materials in this packet will help you to get started in PowerPoint. PowerPoint slides can also be projected directly from your PC, if you have access to projection equipment. Projected PowerPoint shows can contain animation as well as video and audio clips. As you grow in expertise in presentation graphics, you may wish to experiment with the many extra features in a program such as PowerPoint.
