Worksheet: Downloading and Installing Vensim

Step #1: Use Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer, or any other web browser to view the Vensim Home Page at http://www.vensim.com. Click on “Download”.

 


Step #2: You will be taken to the downloads page. Once there, click on “Free Downloads”.


 

Step #3: You will be taken to the user information page. Enter information about yourself.

 


Step #4: Scroll down, and choose the product you want to download (Vensim PLE) and the operating system you use (Windows of Mac OS).

 


Step #5: Scroll down and click on the “Submit info and download software” button. You will be taken to the final download page.

 


Step #6: Now you are in the final download page. Click on the “Disk 1 (setup)” button. (Click on the “Program Installer” button at the bottom of the page, if you are using Macintosh.)

 


Step #7: A Save dialog will open. Choose the folder you want to save the installation files, and click “Save”.


 

Step #8: Repeat the same for the other disk files (Disk 2-6 on Windows; Models Installer). Once you have downloaded all files, start Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder you have saved the installation files, and click on venple32.exe (if you are using Macintosh navigate to the folder you have saved the files, and click on venple.hqx.) This will install Vensim PLE.




Make sure you have checked “Install Vensim PLE for learning and personal use only” during the installation process.
