Objective
This course will introduce
you to the hardware and software that are required to produce maps for hard
copy output and computer graphic displays. Using the Java programming language,
you will experiment with computer graphics procedures that are essential to
automated cartography. This course is a prerequisite for my session of GOG 406
(Special Topics in GIS) and GOG 692/PLN 656 (Seminar in GIS).

Materials
We will be using Java and Eclipse as our programming environment.
It is available in the Science Library Information Commons room. You
may also download these packages for your own use Click here for instructions.
If you are not bringing
your laptop to class, you will need a USB 2.0 compatible flash drive with a
gigabyte of free space.
