Entry Requirements: (Passport/Visas)

A valid passport is required for all visitors. Visas are required with the exception of the following: All Commonwealth Countries, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, U.S.A and Korea.

Additional information can be obtained from Guyana Embassies, High Commissions and Consulate in the various countries.

Climate:
The climate in Guyana is hot but pleasant for most of the year, particularly in the coastal belt, which is cooled by the sea breeze. The average temperature ranges between 75°F and 87°F. . The seasonality of the rainfall has led to two seasons: the dry season occurs between (February-April and July-November) and the rainy season (May-June and December-January). The average rainfall is about 90 inches.
Clothing:
Lightweight, casual clothing is best through out the year (cotton). For the mountains and interior trips good walking/hiking shoes, sturdy clothing and rain gear are recommended.
Departure Tax:
A departure tax of U.S. $ 20.00 and can be purchased from most Travel Agencies and at the airport.

Kaieteur Falls
Kaieteur Falls is the world's longest single-drop waterfall where the 400-foot wide Potaro River plunges 822 feet downward from the Pakaraima Plateau. Kaieteur is nearly five times as high as the Niagara Falls in North America. Kaieteur falls was discovered in 1870 by C. Barrington Brown, who also discovered Orinduik and Kuribrong Falls. The name Kaieteur is an Amerindian word, and the falls should properly be called Kai-Tuk.
 
     
     
 
St. George's Cathedral
 
St. George's Cathedral built in 1892 is reputed as the tallest wooden building in the world. It stand's at 143'-0" tall (43.6m) in Georgetown. It was designed by the London Architect, Mr. Arthur Blomfield.
 
Parliament Building
 
Formerly called the Public Buildings, the Parlaiment building proudly houses the country’s parliamentary meetings. A heavy brick structure stuccoed to resemble stone blocks, the building is the result of two public architectural competitions, in 1826 and 1828, and replaced the Public building that was destroyed by fire in 1828. The foundation stone was laid in 1829 and the building completed in April 1834, from a design by Mr. Joseph Hadfield.The building stands on a greenheart raft foundation and not piles as our heavy modern buildings are. In the Parliament Chamber (eastern wing) the beautiful coffered ceiling (1875) was designed by Mr. Caesar Castellani known for designing a number of buildings in Georgetown including the Sacred Heart Church.
 
Stabroek Market
 
Stabroek Market is the largest shopping center in Guyana, located right in the middle of Georgetown. Made entirely of cast iron, it extends into the Demerara River. This prefab-building was designed in 1881 by an American named McKay. Its' stalls range range
from butcher shops to boutiques to jewelry stores.
