Web Collaboration Project Presentation Online Portfolio due Email me the URL for your portfolio before class |
Please note: late assignments will not be accepted!
Team presentations:
Each team will make 3 presentations on topics assigned by the instructor. You should plan to spend about 30-45 minutes on the topic, demonstrating a certain skill within the appropriate application. In addition, you should hand out an instruction sheet and make these instructions available online. You should also come up with 2-3 mini projects utilizing your team's skill for the class to add to their homepage. Finally, you will assist the instructor in guiding the class that night as we all work on that skill. Teams will be formed the first night of class.
Portfolio assignment:
Throughout the semester, we will spend a significant portion of class time working on mini assignments and the tools and techniques used for developing a successful web site. You will need to link the files that you have been working on in class from a student homepage you create. Of course, the first step in this assignment is creating your student homepage.
You will create a portfolio of work you created in class from demonstrations, team presentations, and on your own. You should also acknowledge the design recomendations made in Son of Web Pages that Suck. You must include at least:
- 8 web pages linked together in a reasonable and useable way
- A consistent look and feel throughout the site
- A home page
- Email link
- A form with at least 6 elements
- Site map (textual or graphical)
- Graphics on every page, consistent with the look and feel of the site itself
- Imagemap
- Rollover buttons
- Banners
- Appropriate use of tables, layers, and/or CSS
- 3 Flash original animations (Flash buttons do not count)
- 2 things we did NOT cover in class but that you researched and learned on your own.
Please note that this is an opportunity to "show off" what you've learned in class and on your own.
You will do a 5 minute presentation of 1 or 2 "neat" things you learned on November 30.
Web Collaboration project:
We will be working with ISP523L: Fundamental of Information Technology: School Libraries. Your team with work with a team from ISP 523. Details with follow in class.
Team presentations = 30 points (10 points each)
Participation, homework, quizzes = 15 points
Portfolio website and presentation = 25 points
Web collaboration project and presentation = 30 points (15 team points + 15 individual points)
Points will be deducted for unexcused absences, lateness, and early departures.
If you come across additional useful websites, please email me the link and I will add to this list throughout the semester.
