GOG 385 - LAB #5

(revised 06/01)

Instructions:  Use Grid A (Be sure you are using Grid A and NOT Grid B)

Align the grid along the upper right-hand corner of the photo placing the top and side of the grid along the edge of the photograph itself.  Read the grid by lines, i.e., the first line is 1, the next 2, etc.  In the exercises the first number refers to the lines going across the grid, the second number refers to those going down.  For example if the coordinates were 12/4 you would go across 12 lines and then down 4 to find the designated cell.

To be sure you have aligned the grid correctly, study the questions for each image.  If the question asks you to identify the “round white objects at 12/23 and your grid alignment has no such object at 12/23 or anywhere near, then you should change your grid orientation until you do.  Each image has some key questions you can use as a guide in grid alignment.

Further explanation of the grid will be provided in class.

Indicate each corner of the image using latitude-longitude coordinates; upper-right, lower-right, upper-left, lower-left.
