Chapter 1 Links-Introduction
Genetics Tutorial:
http://www.med.jhu.edu/Greenberg.Center/tutorial.htmThis site coves the basic concepts of genetics for
introductory students.
Biopsychology course:
http://ursula.uoregon.edu/~albates/nrn/indx.htmlThe site provides pages devoted to brain structure and composition,
and to a tutorial on nerve cell signalling.
The Hardin Metadirectory:
http://www.lib.uiowa.edu/hardin/md/neuro.htmlThis site contains a lists of neuroscience and neurology links (a
mega-list).
Online Software:
http://www.neuroguide.com/neurosoft_1.html#onlineOnline software can be accessed via this site. Topics covered include
pharmacokinetic calculations, a mini mental status exam, and a stroke
scale. The site also provides links to software collections.
Links on Consciousness:

Animal Health, Well-Being, And Rights:
http://www.tiac.net/users/sbr/animals.htmlThis site provides lists of links to sites relating to animal health, and well
being. Of interest to students are links to sites on many different species
of animals. Of interest to faculty are links relating to the research use of
animals.
Shuffle Brain:
http://www.indiana.edu/~pietsch/home.html#sampleThe ShuffleBrain web site contains sections of a book dealing with the
general problem of consciousness. The book is written for students
rather than for scientists and covers a holographic theory of
consciousness. In addition, the site contains some interesting links
relating to popular science sites on brain and mind.
Milestones in the History of Neuroscience:
http://weber.u.washington.edu/~chudler/hist.htmlThis site provides general historical references and a time line of critical
events and achievements in the history of neuroscience.
Brain and Consciousness:
http://www.newscientist.com/nsplus/insight/big3/conscious/day5b.html
This site is devoted to a discussion of the role of the brain in
consciousness. The opening page discusses blindsight and how
scientists are able to induce blindsight in neurologically-intact persons.
Toward a Science of Consciousness: http://www.imprint.co.uk/SPECIAL/02_05.html
This site is a compilation of abstracts and papers presented at the 1996
meeting on consciousness held in Tucson, Arizona. The site covers a

http://weber.u.washington.edu/~wcalvin/bk7/bk7.htmThis site was created by Dr. William Calvin (a neurophysiologist) and
Dr. George Ojemann (a neurosurgeon) of the University of
Washington. The site describes brain function in the context of the
recovery of Neil, a patient who underwent neurosurgery. The individual
chapters deal with topics ranging from mapping the cortex, memory,
vision, and attention. In chapter 2, the authors use Neil's case to
provide a discussion of the topic of consciousness from a
neurophysiological view. The chapter graphics are well done.
Ethics and Animals: Animal Rights: http://funnelweb.utcc.utk.edu/~ilsmith/rights.html
A web site containing numerous links to pro-animal rights web sites
(and a few links to anti-animal rights web sites).
