I wish I could take sole credit for designing this course and all of its materials and technologies. Unfortunately--or actually very fortunately--I've relied heavily on various types of assistance from colleagues and friends
The original version of this course was collaboratively designed with Drs. Barbara Harlow and Mary Harvan during the hot summer of 1996 in Austin, TX (all summers in Austin, by the way, are hot, so I'm not going too far out on a limb here). Drawing on all of our various scholarly interests (and our photocopied archives) we were able to assemble what is to my mind a fascinating collection of texts, and a meaningful structure under which to connect them. Many of those original pieces, and much of that original structure remain intact in this version of Eng 210.
The technologies that facilitate the bulk of the on-line component (Central Page, Contact Page, Annotation Pages, Author Pages, Discussion Forums, Bibliography, etc) are products of the Critical Tools grant project. This is a project that I'm very proud of, and I can't tell you how much I learned from, and enjoyed working with, my fellow "tinkers" (critical tinkers--get it?): Andrew Osborn, Gina Siesing, Joey Slaughter, and Jenny Wenzel.
And, finally, the terrific four panel piece artwork that graces the front page of the course site (and which I've pilfered for all manner of self promotion in my teaching materials) was produced by Russ Kubisiak.
Thanks to all.
