Rejean Poirier (poirierr@ERE.UMONTREAL.CA) -------------- Rejean Poirier's musical studies were completed at the Montreal and Toulouse conservatories with renowned masters such as Bernard Lagace, Kenneth Gilbert and Xavier Darasse. He was awarded First Prizes in organ and chamber music and won, at the end of his studies, First Prize at the J.S. Bach International Competition in Bruges. Upon returning to Montreal in 1974, he founded, together with Christopher Jackson and Helene Dugal, the Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montreal, and acted as its joint Artistic Director for nearly fifteen years. Full Professor at the Faculty of Music of the Universite de Montreal, Rejean Poirier continues an international concert career as an organist and harpsichordist. Last October, he was appointed organist at St. Denis Church in Montreal. Among his recordings are harpsichord works of Duphly and Balbastre (on the Damzell label, soon to be reissued), the world premiere recording of the Livre d'orgue de Montreal (on the Ariane label), a complete recording of J.S. Bach's Well-tempered Clavier (to be issued on the Arioso label) and a recording entitled Clavecins a temperaments (on the UMMUS label).
