Fred K. Lewis, II ----------------- Born in Columbus, Ohio; June 21, 1951. I became infatuated with the pipe organ after hearing my first Christmas Eve service at age 8 in my home church; First United Methodist (Church on the Hill ) in Lancaster, Ohio . The organ was a 27 rank Felgamacher, which I later purchased and installed at my parents home in Mount Vernon, Ohio in 1970. I can not remember the first time that I ever heard a "Theater Pipe Organ" the Classical Organ was my first, though now they both are equal in my musical interests.I studied Popular Organ under the Late George Nash, Classical training was under Dr. Frank Lendrim of Kenyon College, the late Dorothy Pforsich - Organist / Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Mt. Vernon, then in college under Drs. Gordon Wilson and Wilbur Held. Dr. Held being my Mentor and favorite instructor. I started studying piano at age 7 and organ at age 12. MUSICAL LIKES: Bach, Franck, Vierne, Ketelby, Choral works by J.N.Beck and John Carter. I will not say that I have any dislikes in organ music, I just choose not to perform them. Associate Organist at the Renaissance Theater - Mansfield, Ohio 1986 - 1995 3/20 WurliTzer ( Still performing for Silent Films and other occasions. ) Chairperson for the North Central & South Eastern Conference Lutheran Choir Festival. 1973, 1997, 1998 Performed with the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Jeff Holland Cook and Dr. Richard Wink. 1990 - 1993 MISCELLANEOUS: Received the Distinguished Service Award from the Mount Vernon Education Association and Certificate of Recognition from the Western Reserve Theater Organ Society. Chairperson for the North Central and South Eastern Conference Lutheran Choir Festival; 1973, 1997, 1998. Member of the National ATOS and AGO since 1966 .
