Peter Harrison -------------- APPOINTMENTS Since May 1989 Peter has been Organist & Choirmaster of Emmanuel Church, Holcombe, Lancashire, Great Britain. Until September 1996 this position was held in a formal paid capacity and since then has continued on a voluntary basis allowing him the flexibility to also play elsewhere on a "freelance" basis. Previous organ appointments (all in the UK) have been: 1980-85 Organist & Choirmaster, St. Mary The Virgin, Linton, Cambridgeshire 1976-77 Organist & Choirmaster, Upperby Parish Church, Carlisle, Cumbria 1976-76 Organist, Wigton Road Methodist Church, Carlisle, Cumbria 1972-74 Organist & Choirmaster, St. Anne's Church, Turton, Bolton, Lancashire 1968-72 Organist, St Thomas Aquinas R. C. Church, Darlington, Co. Durham STUDY From 1968 - 71 Peter was a pupil of Hector C Parr FRCO and reached Associated Board Organ Grade 7 standard. From 1971 to 74 he studied with Dr Conrad Eden at Durham Cathedral and gained Associate of Trinity College, London certification as a "teacher" of organ. He is not under the guidance of any teacher at present. In recent years, studying has been limited to various day courses organised by the Manchester Area of the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) and two residential courses at Addington Palace (Understanding The Organ, directed by Anne Bond) in October 1992 and October 1993. He began studying for the Foundation Certificate in Church Music Course of the RSCM with the courses "Psalm Hymns & Spiritual Songs" and "Directing a Choir" during 1995 at Huddersfield University. As part of the foundation certificate course, Peter also attended and was successfully assessed in the "Accompanying a Service" module run by Martin How at Hope College, Liverpool during the spring of 1997 and the "Communications and Management" section run by Derek Froud in the autumn of 1997. SECULAR MUSIC Although much of his musical efforts are directed towards church music, Peter has broad interests and has been musical director for stage shows and once made the error of agreeing to perform and sing on-stage! He also deputises on keyboards/bass from time to time for a semi- professional band. BACKGROUND Peter is a confirmed member of the Anglican Church. His main daytime work is as an audio engineer and broadcast consultant trading as P H Music and PHM and providing music/audio-engineering services including location digital sound recording for CD and broadcast.
