CURRENT JOB DESCRIPTION: I am one of three full-time organists at the Mormon Tabernacle. John Longhurst is senior organist, having been at the Tabernacle since 1977; Clay Christiansen has been at the Tabernacle since 1982. I joined the staff in 1991, replacing Robert M. Cundick. All three organists accompany the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on its weekly TV/radio program, "Music and the Spoken Word." We typically follow a 3-week rotation. Each of us also plays an average of two 30-minute recitals a week on the Tabernacle's V/206 Aeolian-Skinner organ. Other duties include playing for choir concerts, concert tours, recording projects, and general conferences of the Latter Day Saints church.
