Renovate Library Basement – Writing & Critical Inquiry

Background \ Overview:

The Writing and Critical Inquiry (WCI) program is currently located in Building 27 on a temporary basis and needs to relocate to a more permanent location to enable the renovation of Building 27 starting summer 2017.

WCI will be relocated to the University Library Basement area formerly occupied by Computer Science. The new space will be completely redesigned and upgraded for their needs, providing adjacency to the recessed courtyard which provides opportunities for daylight and views.

Scope:

The overall project includes an AVP office, faculty/staff offices, GTA office, resource space, workrooms and a large conference space; separate entry vestibule; improvements to mechanical and electrical systems, including LED lighting throughout the suite; and current presentation technologies for the conference space.

Construction Start: Fall 2016
Estimated Completion: August 2017

Project Progress as of August 2017:

AOW Associates, Inc. (Albany NY) is the contractor for the project. The project is currently substantially complete. The WCI program moved into the space on 8/15/2017. Punch list work remaining includes

  • Completion of the A/V System in Conference Room 0096T
  • Installation of WAPs
  • Installation of window shades on exterior hallway windows to control sunlight into the space. (This is a requested change once the program moves into the space).
