Dr. Obdalova, Ed.D, is currently vising the University at Albany, SUNY, from the National Research Tomsk State University, Russia. She is working on her research program, "Research of Cognitive Aspects in Social Language Acquisition", under the auspices of the Department of Educational Theory and Practice, and supervised by Professor Istvan Kecskes, the Director of ESL Graduate Programs. National Research Tomsk State University has been ranked as one of the top higher educational research institutions in Russia (www.tsu.ru).
Distinguished Professor and Department Chair Honored as AERA Fellow
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Arthur Applebee, Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Educational Theory and Practice, for his selection as Fellow of the American Educational Research Association (AERA). Established in 2007, the AERA Fellows Program honors educational researchers who have made exceptional scientific or scholarly contributions through sustained research of distinction in the field and the development of research opportunities and settings. Dr. Applebee has been internationally recognized as a leading authority on English language arts. His studies focus on how children and adults learn the many specialized forms of language required for success in school subjects, life and work. Applebee joins two School of Education colleagues, Dr. Judith Langer and Dr. Sigmund Tobias, in the AERA Fellows Program.
Dr. Oliveria wins 2013 NARST Early Career Research Award
Dr. Alandeom Oliveria won the 2013 NARST Early Career Research Award (ECRA). The ECRA is given annually to a researcher who, within the first seven years after completion of the doctoral degree, demonstrates the greatest potential to make outstanding and continuing contributions to research in science education. NARST is a worldwide organization for improving science teaching and learning through research.
