Teacher Certification Programs


Permanent Certification

(For Teachers with Provisional Certification
Before February 2004)


Three sets of ETAP masters programs fulfill the program requirements for permanent certification. Teachers with provisional certificates in secondary English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, or World Languages are eligible for admission to the ACT program. Teachers with other elementary or secondary certificates should apply to the CDIT or TESOL programs.

Master of Science or Master of Arts for Teachers of an Academic Discipline Teaching (ACT). This program in advanced classroom teaching satisfies the academic requirements for provisionally certified teachers seeking permanent certification at Grades 7-12 in English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, or World Languages. The applicant must hold provisional certification in the same certificate title.

Masters in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology (CDIT). This program is designed for those who wish to extend their expertise in curriculum and instruction, and for those with an interest in instructional design and technology.

Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). This program is designed for teachers in TESOL, K-12.
