Welcome to the Certificate in Online Learning and Teaching (COLT)

A variety of specialized courses within the Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology (CDIT) program can be combined to earn a second SUNY certificate of graduate study- the Certificate in Online Learning and Teaching (COLT). This five-course program, approved by the New York State Department of Education, is designed for students who are interested in online education.

While you can earn both the Masters degree in CDIT and the COLT certificate simultaneously, either degree program can stand alone. You can complete the 15-credit COLT certificate program as a terminal credential or apply the COLT coursework to satisfy half of the 30 credits in the CDIT masters degree if you choose to continue your studies. Upon completion you will have earned two graduate credentials conferred by the State University of New York.

The COLT Program complements our MS in CDIT degree because it caters to students whose primary goal is to understand effective online curricular and instructional development and design. This includes educators in a variety of settings such as public and private schools, higher education, and training sectors.
