Kathleen Thornton's primary interest is in Shakespeare, including the manner in which Shakespeare's plays have been adapted to film and incorporated into modern culture. Other interests are in American Literature, particularly the writers of the early 19th Century (Poe, Hawthorne, Melville, etc.), 20th Century American Drama. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the New York College English Association.
