Degree Audits: You must bring a newly printed copy of your degree audit with you in order to be advised. You will find a link to your degree audit on the"myualbany" portal, where you can run and print a new degree audit.

Advisement: Advisors are available to meet with students on a walk-in basis. Advisement Verification Numbers (AVN) are distributed from the sixth week of each semester until "Reading Day". You must meet with an advisor during this time in order to obtain your AVN and register for the following semester. You should reserve between 10 and 20 minutes for your advisement meeting, and plan to come in early in the day to avoid long lines.

Services Offered: Academic advisement, audit reviews, AVN advisement sessions, transfer equivalent evaluation, evaluation of study abroad requests and academic improvement forms, referral to appropriate university offices and resources.

Advisement Tips

  • Always bring a newly printed copy of your DARS audit. If you do not bring a paper copy of your DARS audit, you will be asked to return with one at a later time. Please save them, as they are your only proof of your academic progress.
  • English majors can meet with any one of the advisement staff, no matter the name listed at the top of the degree audit.
  • Fill in any forms you need to have evaluated or signed as completely as possible prior to your arrival.
  • The longest lines are between classes, in the late morning and early afternoon.
  • The last advisee is seen at 4:15 pm. If you are not with an advisor at 4:15 pm, you will be asked to return the following day.
  • Seniors are restricted from taking 100 level courses. Be sure you have completed your general education and 100 level requirements before you have earned 88 credits.
