Degree Audits
You *must* bring a newly run and printed (on paper) copy of your degree audit with you in order to be advised. If your audit is more than 48 hours old you will be asked to return with a newer version. You can find your degree audit on myualbany under the academics tab.
AVNs
The Advisor Verification Number (AVN) is the key that unlocks your registration options on myualbany each semester. AVNs are distributed from the 6th week of the semester through the last day of classes. In order to receive an AVN you must come to HU381 during office hours with a newly printed degree audit and meet with an member of the advisement staff. At the end of the meeting you will be given a summary of what was discussed, as well as your AVN.
Advisement Tips
Always bring a newly printed copy of your DARS audit. If you do not bring a paper copy of your DARS audit, you will be asked to return with one at a later time. Please save them, as they are the only record of your academic progress.
You can be advised even if there is a "hold" on your account. Do not wait until the hold is resolved to be advised.
Students who may not return the following semester should also be advised. It is better to have a plan you don't use, than not have one when you need it.
English majors can meet with any one of the advisement staff for AVNs. For all other advisement issues please make an appointment with the coordinator.
Fill in any forms you need to have evaluated or signed as completely as possible prior to your arrival.
The last advisee is seen 15 minutes before the office closes. Students who are not seated with a staff member at the posted closing time will be asked to return the next day. No exceptions.
Seniors are restricted from taking 100 level courses. Be sure you have completed your general education and 100 level requirements before you have earned 88 credits.
