The University at Albany Office of Environmental Health and Safety is a service organization dedicated to providing the expertise, advice, guidelines and current standards of professional practice, to ensure the safety and well being of our students, faculty, staff and visitors. Our goal is to prevent injury, illness, and environmental damage through the recognition, evaluation, and control of potential hazards arising from University activities, and to comply with federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations.

The Office of Environmental Health and Safety will be closed for regular business on September 1, 2014, in observance of Labor Day.
EHS will hold Lab Safety Training for all interested PI's, Students and Research Staff, in Life Sciences room #1143 on September 15, 2014 from 1 - 3 PM and also on September 17, 2014 from 1:30 - 3:30 PM.
Effective July12, 2013, UAlbany EH&S will no longer issue permits for firework displays. Recent changes to NYS law empower the Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC) to issue permits and enforce provisions of the Penal Law related to fireworks on state property.
