The University at Albany Office of Environmental Health and Safety is a service organization dedicated to providing the expertise, advice, guidelines and current standards of professional practice, to ensure the safety and well being of our students, faculty, staff and visitors. Our goal is to prevent injury, illness, and environmental damage through the recognition, evaluation, and control of potential hazards arising from University activities, and to comply with federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations.
Due to the alarming rate of hover board fire incindents, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall on certain Hoverboards. Retailers/ Brands can be found here. Also, the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) has issued the following safetytips.
As a reminder, smoking is prohibited in all buildings and residence halls. Also outdoors in the following areas: within 30 ft of ventilation intakes; 10 ft of building entrances; and exterior stairwells.
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety will be closed for regular business on September 5, 2016, in observance of Labor Day.
