 Dr. Mariola Moeyaert

Dr. Mariola Moeyaert, assistant professor, received the 2016 Anastasi Dissertation Award from Division 5 (Quantitative and Qualitative Methods) of the American Psychological Association for her dissertation, “Three-level synthesis of single-subject experimental data: Further developments, empirical validation and applications.”  Read about her research. 


Congratulations to Professor David Dai and doctoral student Fei Chen! Their paper "Three paradigms of gifted education: In search of conceptual clarity in research and practice" was named the "Paper of the Year" in the Gifted Child Quarterly. Alumnus Dr. Jeff Kirk, was recently named founding dean of the College of Education at Texas A&M University - Central Texas, after a national search. Jeff completed his doctorate in Educational Psychology and Methodology in 2004. Congratulations Jeff! 
Alumna Dr. Susan L. Rogers (PhD in Educational Psychology, 2011) was promoted to Associate Professor at SUNY Sullivan.  Dr. Rogers has been an active force at this local community college, and was recognized at the 2014 Commencement Ceremonies with the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Faculty Service. Additionally, Dr. Rogers was tapped to head up SUNY Sullivan's brand new Division of Social Sciences and Sustainability Studies.

Alumna Laurie Nagelsmith, former Associate Dean for Regulatory and Governmental Affairs at Excelsior College School of Nursing, has been appointed to the position of Associate Dean for the undergraduate nursing program at SUNY Empire State College. Dr. Nagelsmith has also been elected to the Board of Directors of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. 

Nicole Bak (shown with Dr. Kristie Asaro-Saddler) was named a Doctoral Student Scholar in Special Education Research through the CEC's Division for Research. As a result, Nicole participated in webinars with experts in the field of special education research throughout the semester, and was invited to a special workshop at the CEC conference. 

Professor Lynn Gelzheiser, together with colleagues Donna Scanlon, Frank Vellutino, Laura Hallgren-Flynn, and Christopher Schatschneider, gained the 2013 Albert J. Harris Award of the International Reading Association for a paper entitled 'Effects of the Interactive Strategies Approach - Extended: A responsive and comprehensive intervention for intermediate-grade struggling readers'. The paper was published in 2011 in The Elementary School Journal, 112(2), 280-306. This award is given to a recently published journal article or monograph that makes an outstanding contribution to the understanding of prevention or assessment of reading or learning disabilities.


Alumnus Nathan Gonyea, now Associate Professor at SUNY Oneonta, won the 2013 SUNY Chancellor's Excellence in Teaching Award.
