Undergraduate Program in Human Development

Degree Requirements

General Program B.S.: A minimum of 45 credits, including 30 credits in the core and 15 credits in a concentration.

Core Courses (30 credits):

  • Foundation Courses (9 credits): APSY 101, ASOC 115, and EPSY 200.
  • Educational Psychology & Counseling Psychology (12 credits): ECPY 360, EPSY 224, 250, and 330.
  • Elective in Psychology or Sociology (3 credits): APSY 327, 338, ASOC 250, 384, APSY 329, 333, 340, and ASOC 362
  • Elective in Human Development (3 credits): ACOM 371, AENG 362, APHI 326, ECPY 410, EPSY 411, ELTL 404, 406, HSPH 341, 342, 343, RCRJ 308 or any course listed in the Psychology or Sociology elective category not already taken in core.
  • Field-Based Learning Experience (3 credits)*:¬†EPSY 390 (for students in Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology or Special Education concentrations)

*All students must complete the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) training. It is recommended to be completed before the field-based learning experience.

Concentration Courses (15 credits):

  • Counseling Psychology Concentration*: APSY 327, APSY 333 or 338, ECPY 204, 421, and one elective course from APSY (APSY 214 or APSY 270 are strongly recommended).
  • Educational Psychology Concentration: EPSY 400, 420, 440, 441, and 481.
  • Peer Assistance and Leadership Concentration*: ECPY 400, 403, 404, 405, and ECPY 406 or EPSY 411.
  • Special Education Concentration*: EPSY 400, ELTL 404 or 406 or APSY 333, ESPE 369, 460, and 463.

*Students may not take the same course to fulfill multiple requirements in the core and in the concentration.
