Faculty Accomplishments
The accomplishments of our faculty include editorial positions in journals; numerous publications in psychology and ed ucation journals; university grants and awards; and external grants from granting agencies in the New York State and the country.
- Professor Frank Vellutino is soon to be inducted into the Reading Hall of Fame. The IRA Reading Hall of Fame consists of nationallly and internationally prominent researchers who are recognized as having made extraordinary contributions to theory and research in the study of literacy acquisition.
- Professor David (Yun) Dai, Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology, was the 2006 recipient of the Early Scholar Award from the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC). The award is given annually on a competitive basis to one scholar who received a doctoral degree no more than 10 years ago and who has made significant scholarly contributions to the field. The award was formally conferred at the November 2006 Annual Convention of the NAGC.
- Professor Frank A. Vellutino was asked to give a lecture at Vanderbilt University in September, 2005. The lecture was part of a distinguished lecture series and was entitled Specific Reading Disability (Dyslexia): What Have We Learned in the Past Four Decades?
