The University at Albany does not offer undergraduate programs leading to the teacher certification. The School of Education does offer graduate programs leading to teacher certification (see www.albany.edu/education). Students seeking to become certified to teach in NYS are advised to major in the subject area they plan to teach, with a minor in Educational Studies. Although the Educational Studies Minor does not lead to NYS Certification, it is intended to assist students toward a career in education in graduate study. Details about New York State Teacher Certification requirements are available at: www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/.
