The Capital District Writing Project 2009 Summer Institute
The Capital District Writing Project, a site of the National Writing Project that is sponsored by the School of Education, is now accepting applications for its annual Invitational Summer Institute.
Each summer, the CDWP Invitational Summer Institute brings together dedicated K-12 teachers from throughout the Capital District for four weeks of writing, thinking, inquiry, and learning together. This is a unique professional opportunity that enables teachers from the region's schools to inquire more deeply and carefully into their own teaching and to learn from other experienced teachers. Teachers who complete the summer institute also have the opportunity to participate in various other professional development activities at the local and national level through CDWP.
Teachers selected for the Invitational Summer Institute receive a stipend and can earn graduate credits through the Department of Educational Theory & Practice in the UAlbany School of Education. They also receive professional development hours that can be applied toward the state requirement.
Teachers at any grade level and in any content area are eligible to participate in the summer institute. In past years, summer institute participants have included teachers from kindergarten through high school and from all disciplines, including social studies, physics, business, foreign languages, and the English language arts as well as special education.
Applications are being accepted through April 15th.
For more information and an online application, please visit the CDWP website at www.cdwp.org. Interested teachers can also contact Associate Dean and Associate Professor Robert Yagelski, who directs the Capital District Writing Project, at 518-442-5002 or by email at rpy95@albany.edu.
