• Sheehy and Colleagues Awarded $1.4 million IES Grant

    Albany, NY (July 1, 2014) - Margaret Sheehy (PI), Donna Scanlon (Co-PI), and colleagues were awarded $1.4 million from the Institute of Education Sciences to explore effects of a course in reading and writing arguments on at-risk ninth grade students.

    SOE Students to Return to Teach in Africa

    Students from UAlbany and SUNY Geneseo taught in Ghana, Africa last fall semester. Dr. Jerry Rivera-Wilson, Director of Clinical Training & Field Experience for UAlbany's MS in Secondary Education program, documented their travel and teaching experiences in a blog, and the three MSSE student teachers shared what they learned at a panel presentation upon their return in December. This teaching and learning experience proved so beneficial for our participating student teachers that the program will run again in fall 2014.
